How to Operate a Computer ?

This procedure attempts to outline the basics in operating a computer system based on the assumption that it is running under the Microsoft Windows XP Operating System platform with normal components such as CD or DVD drive, Network Interface Card, and video card installed in the CPU. The steps outlined are formatted in such a way that it is applicable to the two most common computer system architectures: the desktop and the laptop. Essentially, a desktop computer is just what its name suggests. It is big enough to sit on the desk and is considered as the most common type of computer system. A laptop or sometimes referred to as a “notebook” is a smaller and more mobile version of the desktop machine and is normally used in the same manner but with relatively lower power requirements.

Materials Needed:

- CPU
- keyboard
- monitor
- mouse
- speakers
- printer
- Operating System
Step 1
Prior to powering up the computer system, make sure that the power cord is firmly connected to the back panel of the CPU and is plugged into the wall socket.
Step 2

Business Plan (Questions & Solution)

Business plans don’t have to be a lengthy ordeal. But you’re more likely to get off to a good start if you think through critical questions about how you’ll make money and run the show.

1. How will you win market share?

Your plan should define your ideal target customer and how you’ll market, sell and distribute your products or services to buyers. Within the plan, detail the size of your market based on geography, population of target customers or other defining factors. Then, identify the competition and explain how your company will win over enough of that market to grow.

2. Who will run the company?
Investors want to see a crackerjack team of smart people. Play up the strengths of your management and any key employees. Highlight previous experience and success stories, and clearly explain each person’s role.

3. How much money do you need?
Many startups underestimate the amount of money it will take to start and sustain the business until cash flow stabilizes and the business becomes profitable. Be sure you’ve allotted Read the rest of this entry »

Web hosting service

A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own or lease for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called colocation or Housing as it is commonly called in Latin America or France..
The scope of web hosting services varies greatly. The most basic is web page and small-scale file hosting, where files can be uploaded via File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or a Web interface. The files are usually delivered to the Web “as is” or with little processing. Many Internet service providers (ISPs) offer this service free to their subscribers. People can also obtain Web page hosting from other, alternative service providers. Personal web site hosting is typically free, advertisement-sponsored, or inexpensive. Business web site hosting often has a higher expense.
Single page hosting is generally sufficient only for personal web pages. A complex site calls for a more comprehensive package that provides database support and application Read the rest of this entry »

What’s Your Social Media Strategy?

A global bank executive recently described to us a challenge for our times. It turns out that a customer who normally would qualify for the lowest level of service has an impressive 100,000 followers on Twitter. The bank isn’t doing much yet with social media and has no formula for adapting it to particular customers, but the executive still wondered whether the customer’s “influence” might merit special treatment.

It’s the kind of perplexing question many companies face as they formulate their thinking about social media. To understand how businesses are approaching the challenge, we analyzed strategies and practices at more than 1,100 companies across several industries and continents, and conducted in-depth interviews with 70 executives who were leading social media initiatives. Our research revealed four distinct social media strategies, which depend on a company’s tolerance for uncertain outcomes and the level of results sought.

Understanding Your Current Social media Strategy: A Quiz

The “predictive practitioner.”

This approach confines usage to a specific area, such as customer service. It works well for businesses seeking to avoid uncertainty and to deliver results that can be measured with established tools.

To increase Clorox’s virtual R&D capabilities, the social media team created Clorox Connects—a website that enables brainstorming with customers and suppliers. A typical query posted there: “We’re working on X product idea. What features would you like to see included?” To encourage participation, Clorox uses incentives borrowed from gaming. For example, people who post answers or add rating comments are awarded points. The site features different Read the rest of this entry »

Simple tools used to envision solutions for complex problems

Wielding maps and tools normally used by kindergartners, developers, captains of industry, elected officials, nature lovers and academics envisioned the region’s future Wednesday.
Asked to assess how the region is expected to grow — using stacks of Legos for people and jobs, and yarn for transportation investments — some were blunt.
“To me, it does a good job of protecting green spaces,” said developer Greg Smith, looking at skyscrapers of Legos in urban cores, largely leaving rural areas untouched.
But what’s happening inside the cities “doesn’t seem to follow any logic,” he said, with housing disconnected from potential transit routes and not necessarily synched up with job centers.
Even with growth-management laws on the books for more than a decade, goals to concentrate new population in areas best equipped to handle it aren’t necessarily being met.
More people, for instance, moved into the Puget Sound area’s far-flung towns, such as Monroe, Snoqualmie or Marysville, in the past seven years than Seattle, Bellevue and Tacoma combined.
Climate change and sky-high oil prices add new urgency to corralling sprawl and creating cities where people — particularly young families and lower-income workers — want to live, many argued.
More than 250 regional leaders participated in a daylong event Wednesday designed to honestly address the region’s planning challenges: lack of transportation funding; inadequate alternatives to the car; the growing cost of housing; uninspired urban design; and neighborhood objections to density.
“The laws we have presently in place aren’t getting the job done … so the question is what do we need to do differently?” attorney Tayloe Washburn said.
Groups announced a new partnership — the “Quality Growth Alliance” — made up of builders, conservation groups, smart-growth advocates, planners and academics to help solve Read the rest of this entry »

Hair is the first thing we notice when we meet new people and a healthy, gorgeous hair will always be admired. Finally, Microsoft releases a successor worthy of Windows XP

For the Windows faithful, it’s been a tough eight years. With the launch of Windows XP in 2001, we thought we were poised on a brink of a new world of NT-based goodness—but two years and uncountable exploits later, the future of Windows was grim. Facing a never-ending torrent of new ‘sploits, worms, and trojans, Microsoft fired back with the single greatest operating system update of all time—Service Pack 2. In the single fell swoop of SP2, Windows XP went from Swiss cheese to secure, and once again we were poised to enter the promised land with… (wait for it)… Vista.

Of course, we all know how Vista turned out. Haunted by poor performance in everything from games to disk access to networking, Vista is widely considered to be Microsoft’s biggest failure. Nonetheless, Vista laid the groundwork for a host of new technologies, all absolutely vital to pushing Windows into the 21st century. Vista’s new, modern driver architecture was designed to move core functionality from the kernel (where any instability can bring down Read the rest of this entry »

Rules and Guidelines

Law is a system of rules and guidelines, usually enforced through a set of institutions. It shapes politics, economics and society in numerous ways and serves as a social mediator of relations between people. Contract law regulates everything from buying a bus ticket to trading on derivatives markets. Property law defines rights and obligations related to the transfer and title of personal and real property. Trust law applies to assets held for investment and financial security, while tort law allows claims for compensation if a person’s rights or property are harmed. If the harm is criminalised in a statute, criminal law offers means by which the state can prosecute the perpetrator. Constitutional law provides a framework for the creation of law, the protection of human rights and the election of political representatives. Administrative law is used to review the decisions of government agencies, while international law governs affairs between sovereign states in activities ranging from trade to environmental regulation or military action.

Legal systems elaborate rights and responsibilities in a variety of ways. A general distinction can be made between civil law jurisdictions, which codify their laws, and common law systems, where judge made law is not consolidated. In some countries, religion informs the law. Law provides a rich source of scholarly inquiry, into legal history, philosophy, economic analysis or sociology. Law also raises important and complex issues concerning equality, fairness and justice. “In its majestic equality”, said the author Anatole France in 1894, “the law forbids rich and poor Read the rest of this entry »
